The battle had felt so long ago...
Thinking back to it, Puppetstar remembered how many lives were lost that day. it had never really crossed his mind that there was no distinction between good and evil during the fight, there were only cat's with differing opinions. Coldstar, his father, believed only the strongest cats should be allowed to live.
In a way it made sense.
Coldstar was loyal to Starclan, even on his misguided path. Even if he had taken a Medicine Cat as a mate, and fathered 7 kits with said Medicine cat. The warrior code was something he upheld...to some extent.
Not that Puppetstar could talk. Part of him envied his father, he was a strong cat who did what he needed for the good of his clan, thought part of him hated his father for everything he has done to him. Puppetstar was barely a given his apprentice name when he was chased out. Forced to join a clan he knew nothing of, not that he could complain. Breeze Clan would always be a second home to him, even if Bonestar had a cruel sense of humor. He'd never forget the name his former mentor and leader had decided to give him.
Puppetsoul.
It meant nothing right off the bat, but looking deeper, Bonestar had used him as a puppet in way. Bonestar and Coldstar hated each other, what better way to humiliate his rival, than to train their very own son ursurp them. In a way Puppetstar had been a puppet for Bonestar, without realizing it. It was much later until he put one and one together; But as much as the revelation hurt him, he owed Bonestar his life. Bonestar was more his father than Coldstar had been, was, and would ever be.
Deep in his memories, Puppetstar hadn't noticed the cat enter hid den.
